Nigeria is truly a beautiful country. It has arable land, especially in the North. There are rumours that the farms of Benue could feed the entire Sub-Saharan Africa.
There are opportunities for tourism. There are heated lakes in Enugu, Obudu Cattle Ranch and Yankari Games Reserve, the beautiful terra cotta artworks in Edo state and much more.
The people are extremely friendly. As recently as 2013, we were still considered the happiest people in the world.
However, UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) recently released a report that says that there are 2 million malnourished children in Nigeria, supplanting Sudan, a country at war.
Why is this, you may ask? Why does Nigeria, which is not a country at war, have so much going against it? Why does Nigeria need this much help? I’m glad you asked.
Well, Nigeria is a country at war with itself. Since 2014, terrorism has grown in leaps and bounds, especially under this government and the one before it. It is no longer a rare headline to read that a village was completely sacked, farms burnt and adults fleeing.
All while, children of politicians skip from country to country, enjoying the fruits of their parents ill obtained wealth.
Please, help. While we organise protests, sit downs and resistance, please help us with the little you have.
Thank you!
